Former Bukomansimbi Deputy RDC, Fred Kalema Pax lost the Bukoto East race to Sarah Babirye Kityo, who was a youth MP in the 2016-2021 term.

Despite the fact that a number of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and their deputies had resigned their jobs to participate in the 2026 general elections, vying for parliamentary positions in different constituencies, a number of them were humiliated by the voters during the recently concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.

They discarded their RDC jobs hoping, maybe, for greener pastures in the Parliament of Uganda as people’s representatives, but were humiliated beyond reconciliation when the voters decided otherwise.

As the law stipulates, the RDCs had to give up on their jobs by lodging in their resignation letters to the Office of the Presidency, as they showed interest in elective politics.

Before making up their decisions, the Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda warned them that their positions had fallen vacant and were being immediately filled by other Ugandans.

Babalanda made it categorically clear that they would never have an opportunity of re-occupying their offices.

Lamenting like they never knew what they were headed for, they are crying foul saying there was a lot of voter bribery, swapping figures and other irregularities.
