Scoring a second grade of 20 aggregates in Senior Four did not deter Eric Sserunkuuma’s dream of becoming a doctor. On the contrary he says, his urge shot up and out of this determination, he offered a combination of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and ICT at A Level.
As luck would have it, what was a mere trial to see whether he would manage the hard combination, saw Sserunkuuma coming out with a 20-points victory.
He is among the six best students of St. Balikuddembe Senior Secondary School Kisoga in Mukono district who scored 20 points.

A son to Brian Mpungu and Eva Nambi of Kyetume village in Nakisunga sub-county, Mukono district, Sserunkuuma says he is coming nearer to his dream of becoming a doctor.
He wants to join Makerere University and offer medicine and surgery.
His gratitude, first and foremost, goes to his parents and teachers who kept encouraging him even after the not-so-good grade at Senior Four.
“They sat me down in a parental manner and reminded me of my dream which would be lost if I failed to perform as expected. I went back to the drawing board and put in more effort, I thank God who has enabled me to make it,” he said.
The school headteacher, Lydia Lukwago Kagoya says all the 258 candidates who sat for the exams have managed to attain the two principal passes and are all eligible to join higher institutions of learning.
Kagoya added that out of the six students who obtained 20 points, three of them have been doing BCM and they are potential candidates of bachelors of medicine at their universities of choice.

The school’s board of governors’ chairperson, Fr. Lawrence Tamale who led a thanksgiving mass immediately after receiving the results said his board is determined to facilitate the teachers on their everyday demands for as long as they continue exhibiting excellent results.
“Our candidates have really given us reasons for celebrating these outstanding results. I am sure our parents can now walk with their heads high because St. Balikuddembe has not disappointed them,” he said.
