Haji Ssewanyana said that the land was donated to the Muslim fraternity in Seeta by the Late Jafar Ssendenge in 1968, and the first Mosque was built in 1970’s.
“In 1990, the leadership of the Mosque then realized it had become small in relation to the growing number of the believers in place then. They therefore made arrangements of putting in place a bigger Mosque, but in 2020, again my executive found out that the Mosque was no longer accommodating the numbers of Muslims in the area,” he said, adding;
“We resolved to build a storeyed Mosque, a plan which seemed to be impossible by many of the local believers. We started by laying the pillars. Fortunately, in September 2024, we reached out to our brothers at Voice of Radio and asked for a hand in building our Mosque. We were grateful that our proposal was considered, and it’s the reason we have gathered here in such big numbers to unveil this magnificent Mosque.”

Haji Kivumbi told the congregation that Masjid Noor Seeta is the 12th Mosque to be constructed in this arrangement all over the country. He added that the campaign is not going to stop, after handing over this one, very soon the committee will decide which one out of the very many requests on the table which we are to embark on as our next project.
Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabataka, one of the people who have been ate the frontline in the funds fundraising and monitoring said though the construction of the first 11 Mosques have been making impact, but this one given the fact that it’s in town and on the Kampala-Jinja highway, it has created more impression.

Sheikh Haruna Rashid Kasangati, the head of Muslim Councils in East, Central and Southern Africa, said that in this drive of fundraisings for the construction of Mosques by Ugandans, they have been able to put in place a number of Mosques which are big enough accommodating a big number of Muslims.
He said that they have been able to build four Mosques in Mukono district, two in Luweero and one in each of the following districts; Wakiso, Butambala, Mityana and others.
Sheikh Abdul Noor Kakande, the Super Khadhi for Greater Mukono Region thanked the Muslims who are willingly donating out of their hard-earned money for these projects.
Sheikh Kakande praised RDC Ndisaba for being a tolerant leader saying; “I thank you RDC for being tolerant, I have been so surprised seeing you also introducing your fellow leaders of National Unity Platform (NUP). I work with many RDCs, but others just keep a blind eye when it comes to NUP leaders, whom they think are the biggest enemy of the government. You are the kind of leaders the country needs.”
Dr. Yusuf Nsubuga, a retired commissioner from the Minister of Education who was in charge of Higher Education also acknowledged the listeners of Voice of Africa Radio who are behind the fundraisings that support the construction of the mosques.

“Allow me to commend Haji Najib Kivumbi, who has exhibited the highest levels of mobilization. Being the person soliciting the funds that enables the construction of these Mosques should not be taken for granted,” Dr. Nsubuga said.
