Naggalama SS: Village School Competing Academically With Urban Infrastructural Giants
The Marine police in Amolatar district on Friday, September 19, 2025, at around 11:00 AM on Lake Kyoga in Amolatar District, registered a tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of seven people.
According to a police statement, seven out of the 36 people who were loaded in a boat died after it capsized near Kiryanga Village, Kiryanga Parish, Acii sub-count.
The boat was travelling from Muchora Abino A village to escort a catechist attending a burial ceremony at Kirianga village and the incident happened approximately 400 meters from the Kirianga landing site when the engine boat hit a stationary tree stump, causing it to capsize.
The deceased have been identified as Odeke Steven (65), the LC1 Chairperson of Muchora Abino A village and a resident of Acii sub-county, Amolatar district, Aguti Catherine (55) from Okwalongen sub-county, Dokolo district, Abonyo Sylvia (35), a resident of Amuda village, Soroti district, Ogwal Jaspher (38) from Corner Bileo Trading Centre village, Arwotcek sub-county, Amolatar district, Ejang Robina (30) residing from Alemere Bung cell, Epel ward, Amolatar Town Council, Agwech Semmy (20), from Etam sub-county, Amolatar district.
Police say, 0no of the bodies of a male adult remains unidentified. The bodies were taken to Amolatar Health Centre IV mortuary for post-mortem examination.
