Police from Amolatar Central Police Station were alerted and quickly intervened, transporting both the deceased and the injured survivor to the health facility.

Residents of Amolatar District are reeling after a tragic incident in which a Senior One student was fatally stabbed during a violent altercation at a disco, just a day after returning home for the first term holidays.

The deceased, Kenneth Odon, a student at Kangai Senior Secondary School in Dokolo District, had been staying at his family home in Abedober Village, Arwotcek Parish, Arwotcek sub-county. He was attacked in the early hours of May 3, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m. by unidentified assailants. It is alleged that the fight was triggered by the girl though the security operatives are yet to confirm the exact cause.

During the same incident, his friend Tonny Okot, 21, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Amolatar Health Centre IV.

Moses Aboko, the LC3 chairperson-elect of Arwotcek sub-county, said he was among the first to arrive at the scene after hearing an alarm nearby.

“The incident happened close to my home. When I responded, I found one person already dead and another badly injured and calling for help,” he explained.

Police from Amolatar Central Police Station were alerted and quickly intervened, transporting both the deceased and the injured survivor to the health facility.

Kenneth’s grandfather, Sam Nyang, described him as a disciplined boy but expressed concern that peer influence may have contributed to the events leading to his death.

“He was a good child, but some of the friends he kept may have led him astray,” Nyang said.

Authorities have since arrested five suspects to assist with investigations, according to Amolatar District Deputy Resident District Commissioner Magwar Obonyo. He noted that a joint security team responded promptly and continues to handle the case.

Obonyo also urged parents to be vigilant and discourage children from attending late-night discos, warning that such gatherings can pose serious safety risks.

Police statistics indicate that 4,238 homicide cases were reported in 2025, accounting for 2.2 percent of all recorded crimes—a slight decrease from 4,329 cases reported in 2024.
