In a press interview at Wakiso district headquarters, Bwanika insisted that he was denied the party card owing to the irregular and incompetent vetting means applied.
Although he is going to fervently support his party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Wakiso District Chairperson, Matia Lwanga Bwanika is determined to contest as an independent candidate in the 2026 elections for Busiro South MP slot.
Bwanika, who is using the symbol of a clock, said he has defied the National Unity Party (NUP) directive for those who did not get the card to line behind the chosen flag bearers, arguing that the vetting system for people to get the party ticket was very vague and dissatisfactory.

“True the president (Robert Kyagulanyi) set up the tribunal to handle cases of unsatisfied members but I never sought appeasement from it because, first, it was given a very short time to handle a big load of vetting candidates and secondly, even then it would refer cases to higher party authorities who are busy moving with my president in search of his votes countrywide”, Bwanika reasoned.
In a press interview at Wakiso district headquarters, Bwanika insisted that he was denied the party card owing to the irregular and incompetent vetting means applied.
He however threw a ray of hope when he said that if he receives a telephone call from Kyagulanyi for a one-on-one talk, he will give him an audience to pave the way for a meaningful way forward.
