Migadde also said over 80 learners in the district are being funded under his study bursary scheme run at Buvuma College and other education institutes.

A total of nine candidates aspiring to occupy the Buvuma district woman and directly elected candidates on the National Resistance Movement (NRM), National Unity Platform (NUP), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) tickets and those standing as independents have today concluded nomination formalities in a two-day hectic exercise at the district headquarters.
The candidates who have been successfully nominated to run for Buvuma constituency seat include; Robert Migadde Ndugwa (NRM), Wanda Ronald (FDC), Bunjo John (Ind) and Katamba Philly (NUP).

For woman MP, the successful candidates are; Naggujja Judith (NRM), Mugabi Susan (NUP), Nandagire Rairah (Ind), Acheng Mourine (ind) and Nassuuna Olive (FDC).
The exercise has been overseen by the Electoral Commission’s District Returning Officer, Misango Edmund who said that the process has been seen through to the end as scheduled with no nasty incidents, and thanked the aspirants for sticking to set EC directives like non-congestion of the nomination center by heavy processions.

Misango noted that because of the tricky nature of an island district like Buvuma, the commission will greatly rely on co-operation with security agencies to ensure all round compliance by all stakeholders up to the end of the election exercise in January 2026.
He urged the candidates to desist from temptations of entering into the campaign phase before being flagged off in a harmonization meeting which is scheduled to take place on Friday, warning that contravention of this is tantamount to commission of a punishable offence.

Buvuma constituency MP, NRM’s Robert Migadde Ndugwa, in his nomination meeting held at Buvuma Palm Beach Resort Hotel playground, gave a highlight of development projects initiated by himself since ascension to office in 2011, including among others, construction of health units at Lukale, Lukoma, Kirewe and Liibu, extension of clean water to several islands, lobbying for three seed schools with a fourth one under construction, completion of electricity extension and construction of schools at Katuba, Lukale and Lwaje which is in pipeline.

Migadde also said over 80 learners in the district are being funded under his study bursary scheme run at Buvuma College and other education institutes, adding that severing his continuation as a legislator may have negative effects like discontinuation of the bursary scheme for these learners.
He assured islanders that all these developments are only a transit stage of bigger achievements, adding that the consolation is that with him still around, they have a lot of hope for greater deeds to be scored.

Migadde however asked the electorates to as well consider the NRM presidential candidate, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for another term.
“Most of these projects I have lobbied are from the central government and positively embraced by President Museveni. He also addressed the long cries of the fishermen of lacking any poverty alleviation program put up by the government to specifically handle the fishing folks. By allocating one billion shillings to each of the fishermen SACCOs, it’s a positive milestone we should not take for granted, let’s unanimously vote for him so that he can fulfil our pledges,” he said.

In his inaugural press interview, NUP’s directly elected MP aspirant Katamba Philly noted that fishermen have been treated to a lot of lip service and unfair representation by MPs who he said have stayed aloof on issues like being chased away from the fishing business which has hitherto been the mainstay of islanders.
Katamba also cited the inhuman treatment to islanders by the army characterized by confiscation of their fishing gear, merchandise and cash, leaving them bogged in abject poverty and a vicious cycle of unemployment.
