Vote For Servant Leaders, Not Job Seekers: Mukono Bishop’s Election Plea

With Uganda’s general elections looming on January 15, 2026, Kagodo’s message resonates: “choose leaders who will serve, not just those seeking status change or wealth”.

In a heartfelt appeal, Bishop Enos Kitto Kagodo of Mukono Diocese has urged Christians to prioritize good governance and development in their communities by voting for leaders with potential.

“Don’t vote for people just because you have been told to,” he said, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful decision-making.

Speaking at Sts. Phillip and Andrew’s Cathedral in Mukono Municipality, the bishop highlighted the consequences of electing unfit candidates, citing voting out of revenge as a detrimental factor. He stressed that elections should benefit the people, not just enrich those seeking office.

The call to action was echoed by Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, the Mukono District Chairperson, who praised Kagodo’s peace efforts and urged festive season calm.

Bakaluba is seeking to replace Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze Bakireke on an independent bid.
