Christians today are going to gather at St Mary’s College Kisubi in Wakiso district to bid farewell to Fr. Emmanuel Mukasa, a devoted priest and educator who dedicated his life to serving the Catholic Church and inspiring countless individuals.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, and we remember his tireless efforts to spread the gospel and educate future generations.
Fr Mukasa’s commitment to his faith and students was unwavering, as evident in his 27-year tenure at St Joseph’s Minor Seminary, Nyenga. His expertise in subjects like Latin, history, Religious Education and English earned him recognition, including a special blessing from Pope Francis (RIP).

Fr. Mukasa celebrated his priestly silver jubilee on September 17, 2022 and it attracted hundreds of people who gathered at St Joseph’s Minor Seminary, Nyenga in Buikwe district for the grand celebration.
Among those in the congregation were hundreds of the seminary’s old boys, whom Mukasa had taught subjects such as Latin, history, English, Christian religious education and social etiquette for close to three decades.
Fr Mukasa succumbed to diabetes-related complications at St. Francis Hospital Nyenga in Buikwe district on Monday. His demise left many people heart-broken.

During silver jubilee celebrations, the rector of Nyenga Seminary, Fr Eugene Safari, described Fr Mukasa as an exemplary priest and dedicated teacher, who had given spiritual guidance to Christians. The Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, thanked Fr. Mukasa for his love for Latin, a subject he taught with zeal.
FATHER MUKASA’S BACKGROUND
Fr. Mukasa hails from Mpigi district. He was ordained a priest at Rubaga Cathedral by Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala. After his ordination, he served as curate at Kiziba parish, which was then being led by Msgr. Expedito Magembe (RIP). He stayed at Kiziba for just one year, after which he was posted to Nyenga Seminary, where he stayed uninterrupted until his demise on Monday.
Fr Mukasa was a sibling to two Catholic nuns; Sr Mary Tarsis Nammombwe and Sr Mary Teddy Nakyanzi, both professed members of the Catholic Religious Institute of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix, locally referred to as the Gogonya Sisters.
