According to prosecution records, Dr Olila was allegedly lured from his clinic in Lira City under false pretences before being abducted.
The High Court in Lira has postponed the sentencing of a man who pleaded guilty to the murder of Dr Wilfred Olila, a renowned ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon and lecturer at Soroti University.
During proceedings held on Wednesday before Justice Sarah Birungi Kalibbala, the court first sought to confirm whether key individuals required for the sentencing were present. After it was established that they were absent, the judge adjourned the session and postponed the sentencing to a later date.
The accused, Paul Mugerwa, 32, previously admitted to participating in the killing of Wilfred Olila.

Mugerwa was jointly charged with several other suspects, including Joe George Okello, Steven Kalama, Joseph Okabo and Jonathan Omara.
According to prosecution records, Dr Olila was allegedly lured from his clinic in Lira City under false pretences before being abducted.
Investigators say the attackers robbed him of his money and mobile phone before killing him. His body was later dumped along the Otuboi–Abalanga road in Kalaki District.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the doctor died from strangulation.
The court is expected to set a new date for sentencing once the required parties are present.
