Dr. Olila Wilfred was a retired medical doctor and proprietor of New Moroto Nursing Home in Lira, where he specialised in ear, nose, and throat care.
The High Court has sentenced Mugerwa Paul to 40 years’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the murder of Dr. Olila Wilfred, in a case that shocked communities across the Lango Region.
Presiding over the matter, Hon. Lady Justice Sarah Birungi Kalibala also handed Mugerwa an additional 20-year sentence on a second count of aggravated robbery.
Court heard that the offence, committed in January 2025, was premeditated. Mugerwa, an employee of a health insurance company based in Mbale, orchestrated the kidnapping of Dr. Olila from Lira Hotel. He later killed him and disposed of his body in Kalaki District.
