They face two counts: murder and being accessories after the fact, for allegedly participating in the killing and attempting to conceal the crime.
Mukono Chief Magistrate Court has charged a mother together with her children and remanded them in custody over the alleged murder of the family’s father, in a distressing case that has stunned residents of Kitebe village in Seeta Nazigo Parish, Nakisunga sub-county, Mukono District.
The suspects; Alice Mbolanyi (40), her 16-year-old daughter Caroline Nakalema, and the girl’s 17-year-old boyfriend Lawrence Makumbi, all residents of the same village—appeared before Senior Grade One Magistrate Jacob Okoth Osilo.
They face two counts: murder and being accessories after the fact, for allegedly participating in the killing and attempting to conceal the crime.

Court did not allow the trio to plead, as murder is a capital offence triable only by the High Court. Magistrate Osilo ordered that Mbolanyi be remanded to Kauga Prison, while the two juveniles were sent to Naguru Remand Home. The case was adjourned to April 8, 2026, for mention as investigations continue.
According to the prosecution, on March 1, 2026, the three allegedly conspired and killed Charles Kisekka, the family’s father. It is further alleged that after the killing, they tied his body with a rope, stuffed it into a sack, dragged it, and dumped it by the roadside.
The body was discovered early in the morning by passersby heading to their gardens, who raised an alarm that alerted residents and police. Kisekka, who had been missing for several days, was later confirmed dead. Initial reports indicated signs of foul play, including suspected strangulation.

Court proceedings attracted a large number of the deceased’s relatives, including his mother Lendivina Nabatanzi and brothers Fred Mugagga and Joel Kanyike.
Speaking to journalists, Nabatanzi said she learned of her son’s death through a concerned individual and reported the matter to Kisoga Police Post before being referred to Mukono Central Police Station, where she identified the body.
Family members described a troubled marriage between the deceased and Mbolanyi. Nabatanzi revealed that although the couple married 27 years ago at St. Augustine Church in Seeta and initially lived peacefully, their relationship later deteriorated.
Fred Mugagga recounted that his late brother had often complained about mistreatment at home, including being denied food. Joel Kanyike dismissed claims that the murder was linked to unpaid bride price, instead pointing to long-standing domestic conflicts.
Relatives alleged that tensions escalated over time, with claims that Mbolanyi had driven Kisekka’s relatives away from the home and subjected him to repeated abuse.
As the case awaits mention next month, grief and outrage continue to grip Kitebe village, with residents and family members calling for justice for Charles Kisekka.
