Police have urged parents and guardians to prioritise the safety and well-being of children, warning against unsafe transport practices that could lead to tragic consequences.
Police in Kakiri have arrested a boda boda rider for transporting nine children on a single motorcycle, raising fresh concerns about children’s safety on Uganda’s roads.
The suspect, identified as Musisi Allan, was intercepted while riding motorcycle registration number UEA 067F. He is currently in custody at Kakiri Police Station and has been charged, pending court proceedings.
According to Traffic Police Spokesperson, Michael Kananura, all the nine children belonged to the same family and had reportedly been handed over to the rider by a parent for transport.
Kananura condemned the incident, describing it as a dangerous and preventable act that put the lives of the children at serious risk.
