Police in Kira Division are investigating a suspected murder following the discovery of a decomposed body believed to been that of 52-year-old Naziwa Oliver, a resident of Kito ‘A’ in Kirinya, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
The case was officially reported on April 28, 2026, after relatives raised concerns about her disappearance, which dates back to October 2025. On May 4, 2026, police carried out a search at the residence of the suspects, where the body was found in a locked room. Clothing recovered at the scene was identified as belonging to the deceased.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson said that two suspects, including Nanyonjo Rose, a biological relative of the deceased, have since been arrested to assist with investigations.
Owoyeaigyire added that the crime scene was processed, witness statements recorded, and the body transported to City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects may have been operating a cult-like group that discouraged members from seeking medical treatment and conducting proper burials.
Police have issued a strong warning to the public against participating in or forming illegal cults, noting that such practices pose serious risks to life and will be dealt with decisively.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
