Makerere University Library Receives Collection of Economics Books from Late Prof. Tumusiime-Mutebile’s Family

Makerere University Library has received a valuable donation of economics books from the family of the late Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, the former Governor of the Bank of Uganda.

 

The donation, made through The Mutebile Foundation (@TheMutebile), comprises Prof. Tumusiime-Mutebile’s personal collection of economics books accumulated over decades of academic excellence and public service.

The books were officially received by Dr. Ruth Nalumaga, the University Librarian at Makerere University, during a handover ceremony held at the university library.

 

Speaking during the event, university officials described the donation as a significant contribution to academic research and learning, particularly for students and scholars in economics, finance, and public policy.

 

Prof. Tumusiime-Mutebile, who served as Governor of the Bank of Uganda for over two decades, was widely respected for his contribution to Uganda’s economic transformation and monetary policy reforms. His family said the donation was intended to preserve his legacy of knowledge-sharing and inspire future generations of scholars and leaders.

Makerere University expressed gratitude to the family for the thoughtful gesture, noting that the books will enrich the university’s academic resources and support research in economics and related fields.

 

The late Prof. Tumusiime-Mutebile passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of distinguished public service, intellectual leadership, and dedication to national development.
