In a dramatic turn of events, Prophetess Mercy admitted before local leaders and members of the public that their three children including the twins were not biologically fathered by Bishop Mugisha.
Residents and members of a Pentecostal church in Lyantonde District were left stunned after a bishop’s wife publicly revealed that her husband is not the biological father of their twin children, sparking a heated marital dispute that has since led to the temporary closure of their church.
The revelation emerged during a local council meeting convened by LC Chairperson George William Kafeero to address a growing conflict between Bishop Abdul Mugisha of Holy Gospel Communications Ministries International and his wife, Prophetess Mercy Mugisha.
In a dramatic turn of events, Prophetess Mercy admitted before local leaders and members of the public that their three children including the twins were not biologically fathered by Bishop Mugisha. However, she rejected accusations of adultery, claiming that she had entered into a private arrangement with a former boyfriend who allegedly helped her conceive after years of struggling to have children.

According to Mercy, pressure from her husband’s relatives over her inability to conceive pushed her into making a decision she believed would save her marriage.
“Mugisha’s relatives were always questioning me because I had taken long without getting pregnant. I felt I had no option but to find another solution,” she told the meeting.
The admission followed allegations by Bishop Mugisha, who accused his wife of secretly maintaining a relationship with a former boyfriend despite assuring him that the relationship had ended before their marriage.
The bishop said he was devastated after learning that the twins he believed were God’s blessing to their marriage were allegedly fathered by another man.
“It is painful. I trusted her when she told me that their relationship had ended. We went on to build a family and serve God together, only for me to discover years later that I may not be the biological father of the children,” he said.

Mugisha further claimed that all the three children born during their marriage were fathered by another man, allegations that intensified the emotional exchanges during the meeting.
The bishop also raised concerns about his safety, alleging that he had previously been chased during a late-night confrontation involving his wife and a security guard.
The dispute extended beyond family matters to church leadership and property ownership. Bishop Mugisha told congregants that the church belonged to its believers and called for a separation that would allow both parties to move on with their lives.
However, Mercy challenged her husband’s claims regarding the church’s assets, arguing that she played the leading role in acquiring the land on which the church was established. She said she purchased two plots using financial support from her parents and friends and contributed significantly to the church’s development.
In response, she accused her husband of engaging in extramarital affairs with female church members, claims he has not publicly addressed.

“I chose to overlook many things because I believed every marriage faces challenges. I turned a deaf ear on his extramarital affairs with the church female members, thinking it was his weakness. Imagine going far to the extent of taking them to our marital bed,” Mercy said.
Following the heated proceedings, LC Chairperson George William Kafeero announced the temporary closure of Holy Gospel Communications Ministries International Church until the dispute is resolved.
The closure comes as local leaders seek to restore calm among congregants and allow both parties to address the marital and property disagreements through appropriate channels.
