The bus, belonging to Mwebaze High School in Kakiri, Wakiso District, was transporting students to Jinja District for an educational trip when it collided with the train at a railway crossing.
One person has been confirmed dead and several students injured following a collision between a school bus and a train in Mukono District on Friday morning.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the crash occurred at about 6:45 a.m. at Namumira–Bukasa Village in Kyetume Parish, Nakisunga Sub-county, along the Katosi Road.

Police said the deceased is an adult female passenger who died instantly at the scene. Several students aboard the bus sustained injuries of varying severity.
“Police officers, working alongside other emergency responders, evacuated the injured to Mukono General Referral Hospital and other nearby health facilities for medical treatment,” SP Kawala said in a statement.
Police managed to secure the scene and commenced investigations to establish the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the collision.
Authorities said the identity of the deceased and the total number of injured students will be released after their details have been verified and next of kin notified.
