Political analyst Charles Rwomushana has reportedly been arrested by security personnel while appearing on a live radio programme in Kampala.
According to Radio Simba, Rwomushana was picked up while participating in the station’s weekly political talk show, Gasimbagane ne Bannamawulire.
The circumstances surrounding his reported arrest remain unclear, and authorities had not, by press time, given an official explanation for his detention.
Rwomushana has recently been linked to the treason case involving retired opposition leader Dr Col. Kizza Besigye and several other opposition politicians.
However, it remains unclear whether his reported arrest is connected to the case or any other investigation.
By press time, neither the Uganda Police Force nor the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) had officially confirmed Rwomushana’s reported arrest.
More details are expected as authorities clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
