One of the deceased, Rev. Sr. Tugumenawe Mary Gorret Kenda, 58, who was attached to Rushoroza Catholic Diocese in Kabale District, died at the scene.
The crash occurred at about 2:00pm on Monday in Murutenga Village, Hamurwa sub-county, when a Toyota Noah, registration number UAX 824H, reportedly overturned several times while descending a steep slope.
According to Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to speeding.

Another male passenger, whose identity had not been established by press time, died shortly after being rushed to Rubanda Hospital.
Police said several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The injured were identified as Katushabe Jenerus, 47, a resident of Nyakabungo Village, Kishanje Parish, Bufundi Sub-county in Rubanda District; Hakiza Abed, 30, a Rwandan national; and Garuka Hamis, 54.
In a statement issued on Monday, Tumushime condoled with the family of Sr Kenda, the Catholic Church and her religious congregation, while wishing the injured passengers a speedy recovery.
He urged motorists to exercise maximum caution while using the roads, avoid speeding and overloading, and ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before beginning their journeys.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
