A contractor has been accused of impersonating a State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) officer in an attempt to fleece Tororo Municipal Council officials and other individuals of sh10m.
Muzuusa Derrick, a contractor working with LOGISCO Company Ltd, was on Thursday arraigned before the Tororo Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence.
The prosecution alleges that on September 22, 2026, at Tororo Municipal Council in Tororo District, Muzuusa, together with other suspects still at large, obtained money from municipal officials and other individuals with intent to defraud.
Muzuusa allegedly presented himself as an SH-ACU officer and claimed that he could facilitate the release of individuals implicated in corruption-related allegations arising from the ongoing “Expose the Corrupt” campaign led by Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara.

According to the prosecution, Muzuusa demanded sh10m from the affected individuals, claiming that the money would be used to secure their release and manage their cases.

The SH-ACU has warned members of the public against individuals who impersonate its officers to extort money or offer purported assistance in corruption-related cases.
The Unit urged anyone who encounters suspected cases of impersonation, extortion or corruption involving people claiming to be SH-ACU officers to report them to the relevant authorities.
