Fr. Ssentamu urged couples who had developed hatred towards each other to embrace forgiveness and reconcile for the sake of their children.

Fr. George William Ssentamu of Queen of Martyrs Mpala Parish in Kampala Archdiocese has urged parents to remain actively involved in their children’s lives, warning that parental separation and constant conflicts can negatively affect their academic performance and emotional well-being.

Fr. Ssentamu said many children were growing tired of seeing their mothers visit them at school without their fathers, yet they yearned for the love and support of both parents.

He encouraged couples to maintain peaceful relationships and work together in raising their children, noting that single parenthood and family conflicts could undermine children’s development and education.

He made the remarks while leading a blessing Mass for Primary Seven candidates of Seeta Junior School, Ntinda Campus, located at Seeta in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality.

“Some children register poor grades not because they are dull, but because of the psychological torture they experience when they see their parents living separately, yet they need to see you together as couples,” he said.

Fr. Ssentamu urged couples who had developed hatred towards each other to embrace forgiveness and reconcile for the sake of their children.

“Your children cherish the moments when they see you in love as their parents. It hurts them when you quarrel or fight. I pray that you start visiting them at school together. You will realise the results through improved academic performance,” he said.

He also commended the proprietors of Seeta Schools and the acting Minister of Education and Sports, Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo, for establishing educational institutions offering learning opportunities from nursery and primary levels to secondary school and university.

Meanwhile, Cairo Mugara, speaking on behalf of the 58 candidates preparing for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), which begin on Tuesday, November 3, expressed confidence in their readiness to excel.

Mugara said the teachers had adequately prepared them by covering the required curriculum and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the examinations.

“My dear classmates, the time is now. It is either Aggregate 4 or Aggregate 4. We have been in one of the best schools with authentic policies that bring out a holistic child. We were never given less, so we shouldn’t either produce less” he stressed.

He encouraged his fellow candidates to approach the examinations with confidence, determination and concentration, adding that the questions would be drawn from the curriculum they had studied.

“We have come from too far to fail. Charge yourself with confidence, determination and focus,” he said.

The school headteacher, Lazarus Opolot, assured parents that the candidates were adequately prepared and ready to deliver impressive results when the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) releases the PLE results in January 2027.

Seeta Schools principal Davies Kafumbe thanked parents for consistently supporting the institution by paying school fees throughout their children’s education.

He said the school was committed to rewarding that support through good examination results, adding that teachers had invested considerable effort in preparing the candidates for the national examinations.
