Ndisaba advised opposition supporters to approach security agents for discussions on the venue for their presidential aspirants, and to bear in mind that as they pave ways for getting into positions of getting big money, there is someone looking for his children’s school fees, and another one looking for over sh900,000 for a dialysis at Mulago.

Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka has disclosed that there are opportunistic politicians bent on provoking police to fire tear gas canisters at rioting mobs as a diversionary tactic to injure innocent Ugandans like street vendors, and in effect get them pitted against government.
“I have two divisions and two Division Police Commanders manning over 24 police stations but I swear that as long as I am in charge of security in Mukono district, no single tear gas canister will be detonated; there are many other ways of dispersing such rioters without using tear gas,” Ndisaba said without elaborating.
She was on Wednesday 12th November addressing a gathering of aspiring politicians from the districts of Mukono, Buikwe, and Kayunga who turned up at Mukono Colline Hotel for a prayer and blessing breakfast organized by Greater Mukono Inter Faith Forum (GMIF), a multi-denominational forum bringing together religious leaders from the SDA, Anglican, Catholic, Pentecostal Born Again, Muslim and Orthodox religions.
The prayer breakfast, geared at identifying ways of avoiding tendencies likely to compromise freedom, peace and fairness through sharing ideas of peace, Love and unity, was attended by the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, Odrek Rwabogo among other people.

RDC noted that the decision to block use of tear gas was based on the realization that in the final count, it is the innocent ‘nsenene’ (grasshoppers) vendors who target the gathering to make a quick buck, who even never knew that a policeman was provoked into tear gas use after being stoned by rioters, that receive the onslaught of the gas.

“As you block roads, think about someone being referred from a rural health centre in remote Seeta-Namuganga Health Centre III to Mukono for a Caesarean section, a blood transfusion for sickle cell ailments, and other emergencies,” she noted.
Equally touched by possibility of violence eruption during elections, the Officer in-charge of Mukono Taxi Park, Gerard Mwanga who represented the Mukono Division Police Commander, Bernard Mugerwa informed perpetrators of the political turmoil that while some wish to create a situation likely to what happened in Tanzania, they need to realize that this is Uganda and not Tanzania.
Mwanga pointed out that whoever is planning to engage violence means during elections instead of travelling the avenue of protecting the nation’s achievements should right away know that such a trend of things is un-Ugandan, unacceptable and unable to bring positive victory.

Explaining further, he informed them that those who subscribe to such a school of thought are engaging in distant dreams, and urged them to peacefully take the podium, lay bare their manifestos and march away without inciting violence.
Addressing the congregation, the Assistant District Returning Officer, Wasswa Kizito thanked Bishop Lwandasa, the head of the GMIF, for the initiative which is the first of its kind in the history of the country, saying it could provide an effective remedy for politicians who are bent to campaign along the line of throwing mud at their opponents.
Bp. Lwandasa advised aspirants looking at elections as their lifeline, to realize that it is not a do-or-die issue, to the extent of leading some to mortgage their property including homes, and reminded them that out of the over ten aspirants in some electoral areas, only one person will come out victorious.

He said, “Our families are here, our investments are here; this is the place where our children go to school and it is the only hope for their future existence and it is irrational to engage in acts likely to cause permanent scars on society over a short-lived matter.”
And the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Exports and Industrial Development Odrek Rwabogo urged Christians to desist from engaging in violent acts, and instead emulate Jesus they cherish so much, who he said always preached peace among brothers.

He said, “Jesus never left loopholes for us to fight but called on us to love our neighbours as we love ourselves, and educated them that one’s neighbour is not his or her tribemates or colleague in faith, but a person who sums up all for the greater good of all mankind”.
Other preachers included Christopher Sserunjogi of the SDA Church, Rev. Fr. Samuel Luwaga from Luwayo Orthodox Church in Buikwe, Mukono District Kadhi Sheikh Zubair Ssenkuba and the Provost of Sts. Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral Rev. Can. Godfrey Ssengendo who represented the Anglican Bishop of Mukono Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo.
