A family in Mukono District is living in fear after their 15-year-old daughter, identified as Sumaya, went missing, amid growing concern over the safety of young girls following recent cases of abduction and murder.
The disappearance comes days after the brutal killing of Rayat Nassali Nakato, a Senior Four student of Masaka Secondary School, who was reportedly found dead in Masaka last week, raising fresh concerns about the safety of school-going girls.
According to Sumaya’s family, the teenager, a daughter of Emron Charles, disappeared on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. She was last seen in Canaan Estate, Mpoma, in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District.
A missing-person notice circulated by the family indicates that Sumaya was wearing a white dress with large black circular spots and floral patterns at the bottom when she disappeared.
The family has appealed to residents of Kituba village, Mpoma, Kisowera, Lukojjo, Nama and neighbouring areas in Mukono district and Wakiso to remain vigilant and provide any information that could help establish the girl’s whereabouts.
