The announcement comes barely two weeks before the planned September 29 enthronement of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma as Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I.
A fresh twist has emerged in the unfolding Tooro Kingdom succession dispute, with a group supporting the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV’s alleged son announcing that the child will return to Uganda from the United States next week.
In a press statement issued on Friday, Prince Yoweri Komwiswa said Prince Jacksonville Jacob Oyo would arrive in Uganda on Monday, September 21, 2026, before being presented to the head of the Babiito royal clan, Omusuuga Charles Kamurasi, and the wider Tooro Kingdom at Karuziika Palace on Wednesday, September 23.
“Prince Jacob will fly in from America on Monday and will be presented to Musuuga and entire Tooro Kingdom at Karuzika Palace on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026,” Komwiswa said.
He invited media houses and kingdom stakeholders to attend the presentation.

Kijanangoma was selected by a 21-member Babiito succession committee following the death of King Oyo and was subsequently endorsed by the Tooro Kingdom Supreme Council on September 15.
The planned return of Prince Jacob could therefore further complicate an already contested succession process.
Some members of the late king’s family, including Princess Ruth Komuntale and Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, have disputed Kijanangoma’s selection and have referred to a 2022 will which they say identified Oyo’s biological son as heir to the throne.
The identity and status of the child have become central to the succession dispute, with competing sides advancing different positions over who should succeed the late monarch.
The Babiito leadership, however, has maintained that Kijanangoma was duly selected through the traditional succession process. The Supreme Council subsequently endorsed that decision, paving the way for the planned enthronement.
The presentation of Prince Jacob at Karuziika Palace on September 23 is now expected to draw significant attention as Tooro prepares for the September 29 enthronement of Kijanangoma.
