Tadeo Yuda, the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) for Kakira Town Council, has been arrested for allegedly burning a motor vehicle belonging to his brother’s wife. The incident, linked to family and political disagreements, has sparked concern in Jinja.
The Kiira Regional Police spokesperson, James Mubi said that the Toyota Ractis, registration number UBT 722L, was set ablaze at 2:30am on February 11, with police deploying a sniffer dog to track down the suspect. Yuda, 40, was apprehended at his home, where the dog led detectives to his sitting room.
The vehicle belongs to the wife of Yuda’s brother, Innocent Ngaya, who also resides in Kakira Town Council. The two brothers are said to be neighbours.
“He has been apprehended in connection with arson of vehicle Toyota Ractis UBT 722L belonging to the wife of the suspect’s brother Innocent Ngaya. The two brothers are neighbours,” SP Mubi said.
Officers responded swiftly upon receiving the report and deployed a police sniffer dog, which allegedly led detectives to the suspect’s sitting room, prompting his immediate arrest.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the arson may have been triggered by long-standing family wrangles and political differences between the two brothers. During the recently concluded general elections, the brothers reportedly supported rival candidates in the race for the Butembe Constituency Member of Parliament seat.
Sources further revealed that Yuda had been reporting on police bond in a separate case involving alleged malicious damage to church property in Wairaka, Jinja District, an incident also linked to post-election tensions.

It is alleged that rumours circulated suggesting Ngaya had influenced his brother’s arrest in the church property case, although police have not confirmed these claims.
SP Mubi emphasized that investigations are still ongoing and assured the public that justice will be served. “Prosecution-guided investigations are ongoing, and regular updates on the status of the matter will appropriately be communicated,” he said.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with authorities urging communities to resolve disputes peacefully instead of resorting to violence.
