Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura has reported the abduction of her brother, Tugume Albert Cook.
Nyanjura says Tugume has been abducted from Central Road, Ntinda Kigoowa Road at around 9:00pm on Thursday. She says during the incident which has been conducted by armed personnel, one person has been shot dead and others injured.
She says that Tugume operates a mobile money outlet and that the alleged abductors camouflaged as robbers.
“My brother Tugume Albert Cook has been abducted on gun point from Central Road, Ntinda Kigowa road. One person has been shot dead. He operates a mobile money shop,” Nyanjura’s message on X read.
However according to the eyewitness, alleged armed robbers who approached the mobile money outlet on foot randomly shot in the air and that they went away with unidentified sums of money from the mobile money outlet.
Police is yet to come out with the official statement regarding this incident.
Nyanjura later said that Tugume had been killed, without giving details.
