Transport between Kisoro town and Bukimbiri County in Kisoro District has been paralysed following the collapse of a bridge between Musezero and Kiraro villages.
The bridge, located near Muca Bistro, reportedly collapsed on Saturday when a Fuso truck loaded with charcoal attempted to cross it, leaving the road impassable to other vehicles.
The bridge connects areas in Bukimbiri East Constituency and Bukimbiri County, making it a key crossing point for motorists travelling between the affected areas and Kisoro Municipality.
The collapse has disrupted transport along the route, with motorists unable to cross the damaged section, raising concerns about movement of people and goods.

The incident has also sparked concerns over the condition of the bridge, amid allegations that heavy Sino trucks transporting marram from Bukimbiri to Kisoro Municipality had weakened the structure before it eventually collapsed.
However, the allegations linking the trucks to the collapse have not been independently verified.
The collapse is likely to inconvenience residents, traders and other road users who depend on the route, as they await measures to restore access.
There was no immediate information on whether any injuries were reported in the incident or when repairs to the bridge would begin.
