NRM Kick-starts 3-Day Youth Ideological Camp in Greater Masaka

Thousands of youth leaders from greater Masaka districts on Tuesday December 5, 2023 arrived at St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa Senior Secondary Secondary in Kalungu district to attend a three-day ideological work camp organized by the ruling party Secretariat.

The camp according to NRM officials is aimed at orienting youths into becoming responsible future leaders in their communities and to the nation at large.

The NRM director of mobilisation, Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde said that the program which officially begins today is to enrich the youth with all round knowledge in using leadership to address the social problems of society like poverty, ignorance and disease.

“We seek to empower our aspiring leaders with ideological orientation, positive mindset and leadership skills in order to enable them participate in productive politics and social – economic transformation of the country, through supporting government programs,” Seninde said.

She added that at times the youth are misled not because of their wish but due to wrong guidance from some groups hence, forming negative mindsets and perception about the government.

She invited all youth leaders across all religious, cultural and political institutions who hail from Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Masaka districts and Masaka city to participate.

The Director of communication at the NRM Secretariat, Emmanuel Dombo reiterated that the youth retreat will empower young people to know their responsibility and also provide platform where they can exchange ideas on the government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other wealth creation projects within their communities.

Dombo committed that the facilitators will take responsibility to teach them, train them and show them what they are supposed to do to benefit from government.

The retreat is ending on Friday December 8. As the general campaigns draw close come 2026, NRM is working  around the clock to make sure that it wins the hearts of the electorates more especially in Buganda region where it lost most of the parliamentary seats to the National Unity Platform (NUP) and other opposition parties in the recent general elections in 2021.

Among the category of people the party is interested in are the youths. The on-going campaign is targeting the youth leaders who will disseminate the gospel to the rest of their age mates.
