Parents Urged to Consider Religious-Based Institutions for Quality Workers

Parents have been urged to always consider enrolling their children in religious-based health institutions if they want to have better molded health workers at the end.

Paul Babiine, the deputy Rector of St. Francis Schools of Health Sciences at Namataba in Mukono district says religious-based education institutions among the skills which they instill in the students is a character of being God fearing, something which helps them behave in a totally different manner from the other ordinary health workers.

“Just like the way we have been producing God fearing health workers for the last 13 years St. Francis Schools of Health Sciences Namataba has been in existence, the employers who take on our graduates have always given testimonies,” Babiine said.

He made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a pre-graduation press conference held at the school campus. He said that the 10th graduation ceremony which is due to take place on December 18, 2024 is to have over 360 students graduate in different health disciplines.

Babiine said that having health workers with a religious background is the only remedy to the wicked habits amongst this profession like corrupt health workers, stealing of medicine in government facilities, and others who are money oriented, something which is against the medical oath.

Mary Mwebaza, from the Registrar’s office says the institute offer both certificates and diplomas that include; Diploma in Midwifery (direct), Diploma in Nursing (direct), Diploma in Health Care Management and Leadership, Diploma in Health Promotion and Education, Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Diploma in Midwifery (extension), Diploma in Medical Records Management and Informatics, among others.

The institute’s Guild President, Pius Akatwijuka said that unlike other health education institutes, St. Francis places them in hospitals that have got equipment and experienced medical officers who supervise them well during their attachments.

Akatwijuka says that the institute is located in a conducive environment which is free from any noise pollution which would divert the learners from the main aim of learning, yet it is also fully equipped with all the facilities which they are supposed to use during their day to day studies.
