The incident has attracted public attention in the area, with residents expressing mixed reactions over the couple’s marital dispute.

A pastor in Kabale District says he was left shocked after allegedly finding his wife in a lodge with another man shortly after giving her money to buy clothes for their children.

Pastor George Nafayo of Reformers Church claims that his 37-year-old wife, Evidence Orishaba, was discovered at Vision Jointex Bar and Lodge in Bukinda, Rukiga District, following reports that she was involved in a relationship with cattle trader James Mujuni.

According to Pr. Nafayo, he went to the lodge accompanied by police officers and several local residents who acted as witnesses. He alleges that when they arrived, Mujuni fled the scene.

Orishaba denied any wrongdoing and said her actions were a response to her husband’s behavior, although she did not provide further details.

The incident has attracted public attention in the area, with residents expressing mixed reactions over the couple’s marital dispute.

However, according to police, adultery is no longer a criminal offence, meaning no crime was committed by Orishaba and the cattle trader, Mujuni, as they are both consenting adults who willingly engaged in the relationship.

Simon Tukamuhebwa, the officer in charge of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) desk at Mukono Police Station, said that under current Ugandan law, neither Orishaba nor the man found with her had committed a crime.

“According to the current laws of Uganda, the two have not committed any criminal offence,” Tukamuhebwa said.

The matter is therefore being treated as a domestic dispute rather than a criminal case.
