Police Arrest Two People Over Murder of 25yr-Old Woman

On interrogation, Byamukama confessed to killing the deceased, and disclosed that he had been hired by Kembabazi to kill her sister-in-law over undisclosed issues.

Police in Mbarara are holding two people in connection to death of a resident of Bwizibwera cell, Rutooma Town Council in Mbarara District.

Those in police detention include Byamukama Gyaviira Mawuruba (19) a casual labourer, and Kembabazi Winnie, 30, sister-in-law to the deceased Akankunda Rita aged 25 years.

The accused was allegedly murdered, leading veterinary doctor Karegyeya Brighton to report her death to police. A police sniffer dog tracked a scent to blood stained clothing belonging to Byamukama at the home of Jolly Namutebi.

The deceased is suspected to have been brutally murdered, leading veterinary doctor Karegyeya Brighton reported the body, leading to a prompt police response.

A team processed the crime scene, and honey, a police dog, tracked a scent to blood-stained clothes belonging to Byamukama at Namutebi Jolly’s home.

Byamukama confessed that Kembabazi paid him to kill Rita due to issues with her sister-in-law. Police investigations are still ongoing.
