A police officer attached to the Counter-Terrorism (CT) Tactical Unit has allegedly shot himself dead while on duty at Afford Agencies Limited in Namanve Industrial Park, Wakiso District.
The deceased has been identified as Police Constable (PC) Allan Akandinda, 25, who was deployed to guard the company in Kirinya Parish, Bweyogerere Division, Kira Municipality.
According to a police incident report, Akandinda reported for duty at about 10:15am on Sunday, October 11, 2026, reportedly after failing to arrive on time.
Police said Akandinda had allegedly been involved in a fight with a woman at a bar in Mbuya-Kinawataka following a disagreement over payment. The incident reportedly led to his arrest and detention at an unidentified police station.

His colleague, PC Ajuna Onan Kabura, reportedly told investigators that Akandinda later arrived at the workplace, where he was questioned by his commander, ASP Komakech Steven, about the incident.
“He was questioned by his commander ASP Komakech Steven at around 1000hrs, the time he reached at work, and he rudely replied him,” the police report states.
At about 1:15pm, Akandinda reportedly entered one of the rooms at the company premises and locked himself inside. His colleagues later heard a gunshot and, upon looking through a window, found him lying on a bed in a pool of blood.
“They only heard the gunshot, only to peep from the window and found him lying upside down on his bed in a pool of blood,” the report states.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police East Regional Police Commander, SSP Justus Tashobya, visited the scene alongside Counter-Terrorism personnel led by ASP Komakech, officers from Kirinya Police Station, the Scene of Crime Officer and detectives from the Criminal Investigations team.
Investigators reportedly found the room locked from the inside, with the key inside. A SAR rifle was recovered between the deceased’s legs, while the body had a deep gunshot wound to the front of the neck.
Police also recovered a spent cartridge inside the room and another bullet in the rifle’s chamber. The firearm was loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition, while two magazines containing 60 rounds were recovered from the porch.
Investigators further observed a hole in the ceiling suspected to have been caused by a bullet.
The incident was registered at Kirinya Police Station under SD Ref 19/11/10/2026 as suicide by shooting, as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.
