Shock and fear on Tuesday befell the residents of Masanghe village in Nawanjofu sub-county, Butalejja district upon finding their fellow resident hanging inside his house.
Police have identified the deceased as Ali Sharif Hidyamo (55), a local mat seller. Hidyamo was found hanging dead in his house and the residents believe he could have claimed his life.
The deceased’s mother, Florence Namujuba (84), said that her son was last seen at midday, when she had just returned from the garden.
However, at about 2:00 PM, when she moved closer to his house to invite him for lunch, Hidyamo was hanging dead by a new rope off the roof of his grass thatched house.

Namujuba, also reported that the deceased, is survived by four children, without a wife, but has been staying in the same compound with his mother.
Yet, one of his relatives who preferred anonymity for security reasons, said that the trouble began when he got bride price from one of his daughters.
Hidyamo, constructed a small semi-permanent house which he since feared to occupy, claiming that his relatives had planted charms into it.

Importantly, into the house where he hanged, Hidyamo, had a broken particle of a pot, with ash on it, and some dry leaves (possibly) charms for retaliation.
Tom Malinga, a neighbour to the deceased, said Hidyamo’s claiming his life is so unfortunate, adding that it’s worth sharing challenges with friends, than killing himself and leaving the family and community in distress. By press time, the Butaleja police had stormed the tragic scene to pick the body and commence with the investigations.
