Police have opened a suspected murder investigation following the death of Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu in Kampala.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said Matovu was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants on Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, at Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division, Kampala District.
According to Kawala, Matovu was rushed to Kibuli Hospital for medical attention following the attack but later succumbed to his injuries.
“Police at Kabalagala have registered a case of suspected murder involving Matovu Moses, a musician with Afrigo Band,” Kawala said.
She said a police task team had been dispatched to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Our task team is currently at the scene conducting investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the suspected assailants,” Kawala said.
Police have not yet identified the suspected assailants or established the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
Kawala said more details would be shared as investigations progress.
