Police on Thursday rescued two men from an angry mob after they allegedly dressed as women and attempted to participate in the Women’s Village Council elections at Kiwanga-Lwanda Polling Station in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality.

The two suspects, who were reportedly linked to the National Resistance Movement (NRM), were allegedly discovered by voters while trying to take part in the election, which is exclusively reserved for women. Their presence at the polling station sparked outrage among members of the public.

According to witnesses, an angry crowd confronted the pair, accusing them of impersonating women to cast votes. The mob allegedly assaulted them and dragged them away from the polling station before police officers intervened and rescued them from being lynched.
