A reckless bus driver who failed to observe traffic regulations making it imperative for motorists to stop at railway crossings and give way to oncoming locomotives on August 28, 2025 caused an accident when the train rammed into the rear part of the bus.
In the accident that occurred at Namumira railway crossing point in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality, the driver of the bus registration number RAH 629B identified as Munyarurembo Henry, a Rwandese national, failed to respect the oncoming Uganda Railways passenger train number 73U32 and in the process leading the train to ram into the rear part of the bus belonging to Trinity Express.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson said that the bus travelling from Nairobi was destined for Kampala. Onyango noted, “Fortunately, there were neither fatalities nor injuries, although the bus got some minor damages.”
Police responded fast, recorded statements from eye witnesses and directed the bus driver and the man who commandeered the locomotive to report to Kyetume UR offices, while the bus was impounded to the same venue.
Onyango said the accident highlights the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, particularly at railway crossing points, adding that over speeding can have serious consequences, and that it is crucial for drivers to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines.
