One of the Ugandan leading female music icons, Sheebah Karungi has turned 35 years old today. Sheebah shares the way she came into being while at the same time, she is herself waiting to bring the first human life to the world and her journey right from the labour ward to her present admirable status, the maternal pains endured by her mom Edith Kabazungu today.
Although Sheebah came into the world two months ahead of the naturally prescribed nine months we all spend in the ‘unknown world’, she was placed into a makeshift incubator designed by her mom (Kabazungu), which she admits, that neither knew what her mother was doing when she did it, nor had assurance of a positive result from the experience imposed on her by lack of money to through the modern methods – bold enough to conduct a life threatening experiment on one’s own blood!
Sheebah rightly refers to herself as a blessing in disguise given the fact that she is today a blessing not only to her mom but to the entire family (and to the entire community of entertainment in my opinion).
In the last three years, Sheebah says, she has undergone a lot of character and spiritual tests and she believes she has managed to emerge victorious millions of times, thanks to her consistent and strong nature.
Although she is not yet in position to give a full account of both the big lessons and blessings bestowed upon her life in these three years, she promises full details of her real life documentary, God allowing.
She is set to undertake her pioneer natural and mandatory duty of bringing a life to the earth, and beseeches you all out there to pray for her to perform the God-given duty safely, healthily and easily.
Sheebah is not shy to reveal that she is a little scared of what awaits her in executing the job (bringing a new human to the world), scared of labour and has low tolerance for physical pain – but being the woman that she is, she says she is set!!
All this notwithstanding, Sheebah is anxiously looking forward to the day, which is very soon as she avers, when she will hold her little bird in her hands.
Kalungi indeed refers to this year as a life changing period, and in her prayer to the Lord, “SHE IS ALWAYS READY FOR ANYTHING”. This is her favourite year so far!!!!
Sheebah’s account in her own words goes as follows;
“35 Years ago, today …. a sad
frustrated lady in Mijjeera went into early labour & had a 7months premature.
With no money or support to go to the hospital for an incubator to save her child, she created her own method that helped to keep this little girl warm enough to stay ALIVE & It WORKED! She didnt even know what she was doing but it worked!!
Today, The little premature girl is not only her mom’s biggest blessing but Family too & So many others…
