Residents of Mukono District have been left in shock after the body of a man who had been missing for several days was discovered in a pit at a local trading centre, leading to the arrest of his wife and some of their children.
The deceased, a 49-year-old Charles Kiseka Tagejja, a resident of Kitebe-Namaliga village in Seeta–Nazigo Parish, Nakisunga sub-county, had reportedly disappeared before his body was later found wrapped in a sack.
According to residents, Kiseka’s wife, Alice Mbolanyi, allegedly attacked him together with some of their children during a domestic dispute. The body was then reportedly wrapped in a sack, transported on a motorcycle, and dumped in a pit at a nearby trading centre.
The grim discovery was made by a herdsman who became suspicious after noticing his cows behaving unusually near the pit.

“When I went closer to check, I saw a sack inside and later found a human body in it,” the herdsman said, adding that he immediately raised an alarm.
The alert attracted residents and officers from Seeta-Nazigo Police Station who responded to the scene and launched investigations.
Kiseka and Mbolanyi had been married since 2001 and had five children. Community members say the couple had reportedly been experiencing long-standing domestic disagreements.
Relatives of the deceased, including his brother Edward Kayondo Sserwadda, expressed deep sorrow over the incident during the burial.
“We are deeply hurt by what has happened. We want justice for our brother and we hope investigations will reveal the truth,” Sserwadda said.
Local leaders also condemned the killing, urging families to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes. Councillor Betty Mwesigwa described the incident as tragic and uncalled for.

“It is unfortunate that a family disagreement has ended in such a tragic loss of life. People should seek help and mediation instead of resorting to violence,” she said.
The Officer in Charge of Seeta-Nazigo Police Station, Joseph Eyoku, thanked community members for alerting authorities and condemned the act.
“We appreciate the community members who alerted the police. Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances under which the deceased lost his life,” Eyoku said.
Meanwhile, Rachel Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson confirmed that the suspects remain in custody as police continue their investigations into the suspected murder.
