Two people have been confirmed dead and nine others injured following a fatal road crash at Nkoowe along the Kampala–Hoima Road in Wakiso District.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at about 1:33pm and involved four vehicles: a Sino Truck registration number UBK 495F, commuter taxi UAT 272J, Subaru Forester UBB 353D, and Toyota Wish UBE 918T.

According to Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that the Sino Truck, which was carrying stones and travelling from Kakiri towards Kampala, lost control at Nkoowe before ramming into the three other vehicles.

Among the vehicles hit was a commuter taxi that had reportedly stopped to load passengers.

Kananura said the taxi driver and conductor died on the spot as a result of the impact.

Nine passengers travelling in the commuter taxi were also injured. The injured comprised five adults and four juveniles, according to police.

Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Motorists have meanwhile been urged to exercise caution, particularly when transporting heavy loads, and to ensure that their vehicles are properly controlled at all times.
