“It’s unfortunate that the kind of leaders we have today are aimed at enriching themselves at the expense of the voters. They camp in the district during the campaign time and after voting for them, they migrate to Kampala, spend over four years out of the district and come back over a year to the next campaign period. The ball is in our coats as the voters, let’s endeavour to get rid of such leaders,” she said.

She added; “Let’s be active during these general campaigns, focused on identifying key figures that will be of impact to us and our communities, we should not sit back and let a few people decide for us.”

She also turned on the youths who are about to elect their leaders, underlining the qualities that define a good youth leader.

“These include; empathy, integrity, strong communication skills, decisiveness, and a positive outlook.”

She believes that these traits foster a supportive environment for young people, enabling them to thrive despite the challenges they face.

“A good youth leader acts as a responsible role model, facilitates collaboration, and demonstrates resilience in the face of adversity,” she noted.

Highlighting the pressing issues in Kayunga district, Nalubwama lamented the high levels of poverty and unemployment among the youth.

She asserted that the majority of the youth are poor and unemployed because the current local leaders have based on enriching themselves instead of creating opportunities for their electorates.

Though is outside the leadership cycle in the district, Nalubwama has acted exemplary by forging paths through which she can help to address the biting vices.

She started the Kayunga Empya Development Association, which aims at organizing and empowering the youth to take full advantage of government programs.

“I have been meeting youth all over Kayunga, and they are disillusioned with the district leadership,” she shared.

She emphasized that President Museveni’s commitment to wealth creation and poverty eradication has not been fully realized in Kayunga due to a lack of support from NRM District Leaders and elected local government officials.

As an independent candidate, Nalubwama believes she offers a fresh perspective, in stark contrast to her opponents, including the incumbent Woman MP, Aidah Erios Nantaba, NUP’s Harriet Nakwedde and NRM’s flagbearer Jackline Birungi.

She asserts that her clean and transparent record, along with her dedication to the people of Kayunga, positions her as the best candidate for the role.
