Worshiper Arrested With Live Bullets in Middle of Service

Following intensification of security through the Christmas, end-of-year and new year festivities countrywide, Kisugu police arrested a man identified as Jordan Felix Abasiku who entered St. Stephen Kisugu Church to participate in the 2024/2025 prayers, with two live bullets.

Abasiku is one of the over 100 people arrested in the same night with suspicion of preparing to get involved in high level criminal activities. Most were found with bayonets, hammers, iron bars and other weapons, while others were caught red handed while breaking into different premises.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, Abasiku failed to account for the two PK rifle bullets found on him, and was detained at Kisugu police for further action.

Owoyesigyire said the majority of those arrested were found in Lubaga especially within the premises of the end-of-year festivity code-named ‘Enkuuka’ organised annually by the Mengo-based Central Broadcasting Service (CBS) FM. Those arrested were detained in different police stations and posts around Kampala.

And in Kkonge, Luuli and Nanganda zones and in the precincts of the Queen’s Clock Tower at Katwe, several criminals travelling on bodaboda motorcycles and suspected to be targeting pedestrians travelling in the wee hours, were arrested.

In a related development, two men whose particulars were not immediately disclosed, were arrested around Watoto Church with two metallic objects resembling fireworks canisters and were detained at CPS in Kampala.
