The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Police are investigating a tragic incident which involved a UPDF soldier who shot himself dead.
The deceased has been identified as RO/13999 Lt Ariho Amon serving under Engineering Brigade. Ariho is said to have been driving a black car UBJ 493 Q.
It is alleged that the incident happened on Wednesday at around 2:00pm in the areas of Nakirebe village in Mpigi district.
The deceased stopped his car at a football playground and chased away the players.
He pulled his SMG gun from his car and shot himself in the head.

Soldiers from nearby detach and police rushed to the scene of crime and cordoned it off, his phone and document were recovered from his car.
The body was taken to Mulago City mortuary and as his gun and car were taken to Mpigi Police. The investigations are ongoing to ascertain the root cause of this unfortunate incident.
