After court issued criminal sermons against Dr. Saad Wataba who has been on the run, today he produced himself together with his co-accused, Ssekikubo and Mugerwa who have been at Kawuga prison on remand.

Mukono South parliamentary candidate, Mubarak Ssekikubo has been further remanded in a case in which he is alleged to have extorted sh38m from a job seeker to allegedly influence members of the Mukono District Service Commission to offer him a job.
Ssekikubo together with other co-accused, Lugazi Municipality Community Development Officer (CDO) Ronald Ssaku Mugerwa and Dr. Saadi Wataba have appeared before Mukono Grade I Magistrate Gerard Emwogu.
They are charged with obtaining money by false pretense, and conspiracy to defraud. They are said to have obtained bribes from a job applicant, Dr Mukisa George William, of sh38m by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.
The accused claimed that the said money was intended to facilitate members of the Mukono District Service Commission in helping him secure the Medical Officer position for which he had applied which was not the case.
Ssekikubo, an independent candidate in Mukono South parliamentary bid is also the Nakisunga sub-county chairperson. He was arrested on day one of the parliamentarians’ nominations, and he was picked by operatives of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) and police CID shortly after finalizing his nomination procedures at Mukono EC offices.

Through his lawyer, Ssekikubo asked for bail and presented a number of sureties including, his wife, Rose Babirye, Christine Nalubega, Katanga Richard and Pr. Bwete Dickson.
However, the State Attorney, Christine Ayebazibwe declined, arguing that he failed to show proof of a proper place of abode. The magistrate coincided with Ayebazibwe and turned down Ssekikubo’s bail application.
However, his co-accused, Mugerwa and Wataba were granted bail on the basis that they are civil servants who are easily traceable.
They were granted a cash bail of sh4m and sh10m non-cash bail for each of their sureties.
