Stabex Petrol Station Compensates Journalist UGX 4 Million Over Wrong Fuel Incident

According to information available, the incident occurred when the attendant erroneously dispensed diesel into Mugumya’s petrol-powered Subaru Forester.

Stabex Petrol Station in Kisoro has paid UGX 4 million in compensation to Kisoro-based journalist Mugumya Simon after one of its fuel attendants mistakenly filled his Subaru Forester with diesel instead of petrol, resulting in engine damage.

The compensation followed an out-of-court settlement reached before the Kisoro Grade One Magistrate’s Court, bringing the matter to a close without proceeding to a full hearing.

According to information available, the incident occurred when the attendant erroneously dispensed diesel into Mugumya’s petrol-powered Subaru Forester. The mistake reportedly caused significant engine damage, forcing the journalist to incur repair costs and seek legal redress.

Following negotiations between the two parties, Stabex Petrol Station agreed to compensate Mugumya with UGX 4 million. The settlement was formally recorded before the Kisoro Grade One Magistrate’s Court, effectively resolving the dispute amicably.

The case serves as a reminder to fuel station operators and attendants to exercise greater caution when serving motorists, as fueling vehicles with the wrong type of fuel can result in costly mechanical damage and inconvenience to customers.

Neither Mugumya Simon nor representatives of Stabex Petrol Station had issued further public comments on the settlement by the time of filing this report.
