The Somali South West State Government Minister for Aviation and Transport, Hassan Abdinur Adan, has commended Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) for promoting peace and stability in Barawe.
During a courtesy visit to Battle Group 45 Headquarters, Minister Adan thanked the forces for their expertise and efforts in stabilizing the area, acknowledging their sacrifice in serving away from their families.
He thanked the forces for the expertise and effort they have invested in stabilising the area, noting that their willingness to serve away from their families was deeply appreciated by the Somali people and leadership.

He reaffirmed the South West State Government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with AUSSOM and the UPDF, pledging continued support to sustain peace and stability in the region.
The Battle Group 45 Commander, Colonel Justus Musenene, reiterated the UPDF contingent’s resolve to maintain the prevailing calm and to protect key government installations in line with the AUSSOM mandate.
The meeting was attended by the Barawe Airport Manager, Mohamed Nurani Kasim, the Military Information Officer, Major David Akandwanaho, and other senior officials.
