“I created these songs myself and spent my own money to produce them,” Nalubega explained. “So, it is shocking to see another company claiming their copyright.”
Ugandan legendary singer, Chance Nalubega has revealed that she was left stunned after discovering that she does not own the rights to the very songs she created.
The Abacakala mucakale hit maker, Nalubega said the shock came when she noticed that the rights to several of her songs were being claimed online by The Orchard Music Distributor. The revelation left the singer confused and frustrated, especially because she insists that every step of the music’s creation came directly from her own effort and investment.
According to Nalubega, she personally wrote and composed the songs. She also says she paid for the studio sessions where the tracks were recorded and financed the production of the accompanying music videos. Because of that, she believed she fully owned the music.

“I created these songs myself and spent my own money to produce them,” Nalubega explained. “So, it is shocking to see another company claiming their copyright.”
The singer said the situation has become even more frustrating because she cannot freely track or monitor her own songs online without running into copyright claims linked to the distributor.
Nalubega is now demanding answers about how her music ended up being associated with The Orchard. She says she is determined to uncover the truth and make sure the matter is resolved.

“I need clarity on how this happened,” she said. “I will not keep quiet about something involving my own work.”
As she seeks clarification, Nalubega hopes the issue will shed light on the often complicated business side of the music industry—an area that many artists say can sometimes leave creators without control over their own art.
