The Pastor said finding his wife in a lodge room was sufficient reason for him to conclude that the relationship could not continue, despite the couple having five children.
A pastor in Kabale District has ended his marriage after alleging that he found his wife inside a lodge room with a man he suspected of having an extramarital relationship with her.
Pastor George Nafayo of Reformers Church, a resident of Butoore Village, Nyakasharara Parish, Kaharo Sub-county, said the incident occurred on the evening of June 25, 2026, at Vision Jointex Bar and Lodge along the Kabale–Ntungamo Highway in Kakatunda, Bukinda, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District.
According to Nafayo, his 37-year-old wife, Evidence Orishaba, left home at around midday after asking for money to buy clothes for their five children at Nyabirerema Market in Bukinda. He claims that after shopping, she was seen in the company of James Mujuni, a cattle trader from Maziba Sub-county in Kabale District.

Nafayo said he had previously received reports alleging that Orishaba and Mujuni were involved in an extramarital affair and had been monitoring the situation. He alleged that the two were seen together at the market before heading to the lodge, located about two kilometres away.
The pastor said he notified officers at Bukinda Police Station and mobilised local residents as witnesses before proceeding to the lodge. Upon arrival, he claimed Orishaba was found inside one of the rooms while Mujuni reportedly fled the scene.
Nafayo further alleged that the lodge room had been paid for using the money he had given his wife to purchase clothes for their children. He also accused Orishaba of mismanaging family businesses, saying he had sold land worth sh19.5m to revive one of the enterprises, which he claimed was again facing financial difficulties.

He added that this was not the first time his wife had been accused of infidelity. As part of his claims, Nafayo presented recordings allegedly extracted from Orishaba’s mobile phone, which he said contained conversations arranging the meeting with Mujuni.
Orishaba was taken to Bukinda Police Station, where she spent the night before being transferred to Kaharo Police Station the following day.
Over the weekend, police convened a closed-door meeting at Kaharo Sub-county headquarters involving the couple and members of both families in an effort to resolve the dispute.
Following the meeting, Nafayo said he had formally returned Orishaba to her family and ended the marriage. The Pastor said finding his wife in a lodge room was sufficient reason for him to conclude that the relationship could not continue, despite the couple having five children. He added that he involved police and relatives because he feared the situation could have escalated.
Nafayo said he hoped his decision would serve as a reminder to couples about the importance of faithfulness in marriage.

In her defence, Orishaba said her actions were a response to what she described as her husband’s treatment of her, although she did not elaborate further.
Julius Tisasira, the LC1 chairperson of Butoore Village, said he had previously intervened in the couple’s domestic disputes on three occasions, all involving Nafayo’s allegations of infidelity against his wife.
Ronald Aturinda, Orishaba’s brother, described his sister’s alleged conduct as unacceptable, saying her behaviour had previously raised concerns within the family.
The allegations made by Nafayo have not been independently verified, and no information was immediately available on whether any criminal charges had been filed in connection with the incident.
