Businessman Africano Nteziyaremye and his wife have been shot dead by unknown assailants at their residence in Zindiro Village, Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality.
The couple were attacked shortly before midnight on Saturday, October 17, as they arrived home in their Toyota pickup truck. The assailants, reportedly travelling on a motorcycle, opened fire on the vehicle as it approached the gate.
Nteziyaremye operated a major business establishment along Mosque Road, opposite Baby Coach. The couple was returning home after leaving the business premises when the shooting occurred.
The identities of the assailants and the motive for the killings remain unknown.
As of Sunday morning, police had not issued an official statement on the incident or provided details of any investigations or arrests.
The killings have left the couple’s family, friends and members of Kisoro’s business community mourning their loss.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the killings.
