State Attorney Charged, Remanded for Soliciting sh100m Bribe

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with the Uganda Police’s Criminal Investigations Department and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution arrested and charged a State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs with 16 counts of corruption.

The suspect, identified as Sam Tusubira was on Tuesday arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala and charged accordingly.

Prosecution told the court that the accused, while representing the government in court, solicited for a bribe of sh100m from a plaintiff who had sued the Ministry of Lands and the Attorney General for irregular cancellation of his title, in order to assist the victim, get compensated.

By the time of his arrest, Tusubira had allegedly received about sh43m from the victim. He has been remanded until August 19, 2024.
