It’s with deep sorrow that the family of the Late Hon Kitaka-Gawera and the Late Susan Wilson Kitaka-Gawera, friends and in-laws are today gathering at Lugasa village in Kayunga district for the official send-off of their beloved one, Dorothy Jacqueline Kitaka-Gawera.

Dorothy (58) tragically left us on January 1st 2024 in Los Angeles, California due to Cardiac Arrest.

A dedicated mother, a friend to many, Dorothy was a larger than life personality who brought a smile to everyone’s face.

She was born in Kampala and attended Nakasero, Buckley Primary School and Nabbingo Secondary School. At the age of 19 she moved to London, where she briefly attended Merton College for 2 years, and then to Pasadena California, where she attended Pasadena City College and graduated with a Diploma in Economics and Business Administration.

She went on to live in Pasadena, California for 18 years before moving to Austin, Texas, where she lived for the last 15 years.

Dorothy left behind a 25 year old son, Anthony Fabiano, who lives in Los-Angeles, CA, 5 siblings: Heron Shaw (England), Steven and Isaac Kitaka (Uganda), Richard Kitaka (Austin, Texas) and Ivan Kitaka (Houston, Texas).

Dorothy’s passion included Christian outreach, an eternal love for well-being for others, an infectious smile, huge personality and an infinite love for the Bible and scriptures. She left a stream of tears, bottomless grief and sorrow. She will be missed dearly.
